>> | !///SWFAnts #ADMIN# 10mar2016(th)20:35 No.30213 SWF P4R3But what about the lulz? >>30207 There is no bump limit on swfchan.org, it's another one of those things that were supposed to "bring something new to the table" in comparison to /f/. The idea was that as long as people find value in a thread it may stay. It's been so long since I built the board now that I've forgotten the exact algorithm for purging threads, especially since a few years went by without many posts, but it goes something like this: + Start health is determined by how long ago the flash was last posted. 100% is only given when it's never been seen before. + Unique posters and replies (not counting dupe posts) increases the health. + Meanwhile time is supposed to reduce the health more and more the older a thread is. + However, if nobody posts new flashes on /fap/ the system doesn't see a need to reduce health because the board is not over its limit! It can't be just one guy spamming a bunch of flashes like the other day either because he will reduce his own thread's health when the system see that he is flooding the board. Of course a lot of threads were still bumped off because they were so old and had no replies but evidently it didn't do much to our most thriving ones. |

>> | !Wulf.Eb.mY 10mar2016(th)21:01 No.30219 OP P5R4>>30213 While I agree with the sentiment, it doesn't seem to play out in a positive way. Maybe you should add another factor into the health equation, such as length of replies as well as containing of the word "bump" or "lulz" or other words related to increasing the longevity of the thread without adding any actual content. >>30210 It really only brought the issue to my attention, if you look, most posts are less than 15 words and post to only keep the thread alive without adding anything. It was posted on "17dec2015" and has only had extremely sparing posts that actually have any value. >>30211 Yeah, or at least something to counter dynamic ips + shitpost bumping. >>30213 And as for the title of your post, the lulz that threads like beef curtains have has hit the point of diminishing returns and is now just an eye sore. In contrast there's "not new.swf," the only reason why the lulz haven't hit the point of diminishing returns for that one is that: 1. there's this huge divide in the users (apathy/potentially racist/extreme liberal/troll/etc.). 2. there's fresh content being produced to spur on these people. (All the variations titled "fixed" and so on.) and 3. it was actually bringing conversation. It's probably going to die into the bumpmania as well soon since really all that can be said and done, has been said and done. (Unless it goes the route of ppppu.) |

>> | Anonymous 6jun2016(mo)14:46 No.34095 E P7R6Gentlemen, the system that would prevent shitposting from being displayed prevalently has yet to be invented. As long as there is anonymous there will be threads like beef curtains. |

>> | Anonymous 7jun2016(tu)01:52 No.34104 F P8R7Admin has this same response whenever anyone mentions the growing amount of dueling keyboard warriors choking out real discussions. This site is going to become 100% flamewars and beefcurtains before anything changes, and we'll all be somewhere else. Any site ending with 'chan' is determined to let angry little kids control all discourse. |

>> | !///SWFAnts #ADMIN# 7jun2016(tu)12:04 No.34134 SWF P9R8I'm just happy the board is finally active. There was a period, lasting years, when weeks could go by without a single post. Probably in part because the posting system and server connection wasn't exactly the best in those days but also because nobody else posted and who wants to post on an inactive board? Then something happened and now we got memes of our own and even guys editing flashes for others. People have fun with beef curtains and despite the spam it's innocent enough in my eyes (meaning its contained in its own thread, the thumbnail isn't too disgusing and I don't think visitors will flee from the site if they watch it). |

>> | Anonymous 13jul2016(we)07:01 No.35456 G P11R10is there a post limit for a thread? |
|
>> | !///SWFAnts #ADMIN# 13jul2016(we)22:43 No.35489 SWF P12R11>>35456 There is not. Instead a thread lose more and more health per day the older it is, requiring more and more posters to be interested in it. |
